Cures and Treatments
There are two different kinds of treatments for anorexia nervosa. There is medication treatment and nutritional counseling. The main goal of both treatments is to restore a healthy weight and healthy eating habits. Medical treatments address things such as osteoporosis and depression. Medical treatment is first because the malnutrition and starvation can break down your body. Nutritional counseling helps an anorexic take charge of their weight and and teaches them healthy eating habits. They also teach them so they have a good understanding of nutrition. Family therapy is a key for any teens with anorexia. The parents help support their child, and this helps the teen both emotionally and physically. Some forms of anorexia last for long amounts of time, even years. These are called chronic forms of anorexia. Treatment for this most often involves physiological therapy. Anorexia nervosa is different for different people. For examples, some people fully recover from it, and some have their up's and down's over the years. Treatment for anorexia nervosa is an ongoing process for many.
