Diagnosis and Tests
There are many different tests people who many have anorexia nervosa may take to see what caused this disease and to see what the damage has done. They can be repeated frequently over time to see how the anorexic is doing.
- Albumin - A protein that is made in the liver. This test measures the amount of albumin in the clear liquid portion of the blood.
- Bone Density Test - This test is to check for weak bones, or osteoporosis.
- CBC - Stands for Complete Blood Count. It measures how many red blood cells you have, how many white blood cells, amount of hemoglobin, average blood cell size, and hemoglobin per blood cell.
- ECG - Stands for Electrocardiogram. It records the electrical activity of your heart and checks for any damage to your heart. It also checks to see if it is beating normally and how fast it's beating.
- Kidney Tests - These tests are used to see how well the kidneys are working and if they are functioning how they are supposed to.
- Liver Tests - These tests are used to make sure the liver is functioning normally.
- Total Protein Test - This test measures albumin and globulin portions in your blood.
- Urinalysis - This test checks the appearance and color of the urine. It is the physical, chemical, and microscopic examination of the urine.
